Nonprofits have an impossible task today.

And yet, our hands are on our keyboards. Many of us are trying to figure out how to message this moment to supporters in a way that meets them where they are.
Which is to say, just as flooded and threadbare as we are. Social posts, emails, text messages, from organizations we trusted, from candidates we hoped for, from friends and family… Word soup, much of it saying versions of the same thing: This is terrible but we’ll get through this, we’re more resolved than ever, we’ve seen this before, we’re mourning, we need your help to stay strong.
It’s all true, but truths can quickly turn to truisms. Diluted messaging that all runs together, meaning stripped out. A husk, not a seed.

Donald Trump’s former attorney Rudy Giuliani could be held in contempt of court if he fails to turn over property to election workers he defamed in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.
The cash-strapped former New York City mayor was ordered to a federal court hearing in Manhattan on Thursday after attorneys for a mother-daughter pair of election workers accused him of moving around and hiding a long list of valuables he has been court-ordered to turn over.
District Judge Lewis Liman initially gave Giuliani one week to turn over his property, including a New York penthouse and a 1980 Mercedes-Benz convertible. He was spotted riding in the passenger seat of the car while outside Trump’s polling location in Palm Beach, Florida, on Election Day.
Giuliani will have until November 14 to hand it all over, or risk severe sanctions, after attorneys for the women argued in court filings and in front of a judge that he has deliberately evaded their attempts to recover any of it.
Caruso also accused the women’s legal team of a “vindictive” campaign to collect what the courts say they are owed, including Giuliani’s grandfather’s watch.
During a bankruptcy hearing earlier this year, Giuliani claimed that Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee owe him for unpaid legal fees for work he did in a spurious attempt to overturn 2020 election results — a saga that also saw him make defamatory statements about Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the two election workers in Georgia who were later awarded nearly $150 million at the conclusion of a defamation case last year.
Outside the court, Giuliani told reporters that he does not have any regrets about defaming the women before he corrected himself to say that he does not believe he ever defamed them.
“Mr. Trump doesn’t have to help me get out of this,” he said as he got into a car. “All Mr. Trump has to do is straighten out the legal system, and you’ll find out who the real criminals are.”

Scientific American editor-in-chief Laura Helmuth blasted Trump voters as the "meanest, dumbest, most bigoted" group and "f***ing fascists” during election night while also defending her behavior as a “normal response.” “I apologize to my fellow voters that my Gen X is so full of f***ing fascists,” Helmuth wrote on social media. “Solidarity to everyone whose meanest, dumbest, most bigoted high-school classmates are celebrating [the] results because f*** them to the moon and back.” Scientific American’s website says the magazine covers society’s “most important and exciting research, ideas and knowledge” but is not clear on whether calling tens of millions of Americans "f***ing fascists” for disagreeing with Laura Helmuth’s political ideology classifies as one of those ideas. Bernie Sanders split from much of the left’s mindless excuse-making Wednesday, arguing that Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump because the Democrat Party “has abandoned working-class people,” not because of unprovable bigotry. “It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,” Sanders proclaimed on X. “First, it was the white working class, and now it is Latino and Black workers as well. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.” The veteran Vermont Senator also lamented the Biden administration’s continued unconditional financial support for Israel, arguing that voters are tired of their money being sent overseas to fund conflicts that have nothing to do with America’s national interests. Attorney General Bailey Obtains Court Win Throwing Out Biden-Harris Illegal Parole in Place Rule
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Today, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey obtained a court order throwing out the Biden-Harris Administration’s “parole in place” (PIP) rule that would allow millions of illegal immigrants to circumvent the law and obtain permanent residency. He joined sixteen other states in the lawsuit.
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris created a crisis at the southern border, leaving the American people to pay the consequences. In the wake of the federal government’s refusal to act, states like Missouri had no choice but to step in and take action to secure our southern border,” said Attorney General Bailey. “We filed suit to ensure millions of unvetted individuals are not invading our communities.”
The unlawful PIP program would have allowed aliens who have been unlawfully present in the United States for ten or more years to receive a grant of “parole”—without leaving the United States and attempting to come back and apply for admission at a port of entry—if the alien is the spouse or stepchild of a U.S. citizen.
Biden’s DHS wrongfully asserted it has “unfettered discretion” into who can enter our nation without consulting Congress. Their new program would have allowed more than 1.3 million illegal immigrants already in the states to apply for permanent residency. In the complaint, the attorneys general reminded the defendants that Congress has not authorized said mass amnesty to illegal aliens.
In the lawsuit, the attorneys general asserted the PIP program was unconstitutional and asked the Court to block it. The Court agreed, and granted their request to throw out the unconstitutional rule.
Attorney General Bailey joined Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, and America First Legal in filing the lawsuit.
