Scott Skrynecki, a spokesperson for the Nassau County Police Department, both say reports that explosives were found in a car near the site of Donald Trump’s rally on Long Island are false.”
Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder said: “Reports of explosives being found at the site are unfounded. There is a person who is being questioned who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site.
“The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found, and that individual is currently being detained by the police.”

Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump, reportedly set up a sniper’s nest near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and waited for nearly 12 hours, preparing for an ambush that could have changed the course of history, federal prosecutors revealed on Monday.
The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that Routh was charged with two federal gun crimes during his appearance in federal court today: possessing a firearm despite being a convicted felon and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
It is unclear why he has not been charged with attempting to assassinate the 45th President, despite clear-cut evidence showing he wanted Trump dead. The AP notes it is possible more charges could be levied in the future.
Routh showed no remorse for his actions and was seen SMILING as he spoke with his public defender.
According to the federal criminal complaint filed on Monday per New York Post, Routh began his sinister operation early Sunday morning. His cell phone data indicated he arrived at the golf course vicinity at approximately 1:59 a.m., positioning himself for nearly 12 hours before what appeared to be an ambush attempt.
At around 1:30 p.m., as Trump played golf just 300-500 yards away, a vigilant Secret Service agent spotted the rifle barrel protruding from Routh’s makeshift hideout.
An agent fired at the suspect, who then ran from the trees but was spotted by a witness who captured a photo of his black Nissan SUV. The witness provided police with photos of the fleeing vehicle and its license plate number.
The agents’ subsequent search of the sniper’s nest revealed disturbing evidence: a loaded SKS-style rifle—its serial number scratched off and rendered unreadable—alongside two bags and a GoPro camera.
The rifle, not manufactured in Florida, is believed to have been smuggled from another state or country, according to the complaint. The sinister setup suggested careful planning and intent to carry out a deadly strike.
Routh was later apprehended on I-95, allegedly grinning per Daily Mail as he was taken into custody—a disturbing display of arrogance in the face of what could have been an unthinkable act of violence.
Former President Donald Trump’s Sunday golf outing at his Trump International Golf Club was a last-minute decision, sources told CNN.
Chris Swecker, a retired FBI assistant director, told Newsweek that the law enforcement community is now focused on determining how Routh appeared to know Trump would be at the West Palm Beach golf course on Sunday.
“The biggest question to answer is: ‘How did the would-be assassin know to be at that location at that time?’” Swecker said.

According to the Associated Press, there was an assassination attempt on the presidential candidate yesterday.
The agency cites FBI data, according to which the man detained near the golf club was aiming a Kalashnikov assault rifle with a telescopic sight while Trump was playing on one of the courses.
The man's name is Ryan Wesley Root, the agency reports, citing a source in the investigation. He is 58 years old and has a small construction company in Hawaii.
AP writes that Root had close ties to Ukraine. He frequently posted on social media about the war in Ukraine and had a website where he raised money for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and encouraged Americans to join the Ukrainian army.
CNN reports that in 2022, he published dozens of posts on X, where he stated that he was ready to sacrifice his life in the fight against Russia and that "we need to burn the Kremlin to the ground." He called himself an "unofficial intermediary" for the Ukrainian government.
At the same time, as the TV channel writes, since October 2023, Ruth “has been trying to recruit Afghans for numerous positions, presenting himself as an unofficial link with the Ukrainian government.”
"Afghan soldiers - Ukraine is somewhat interested in 3,000 soldiers so I need every soldier who has a passport to send me a copy of their passport to send to Ukraine," he wrote in one such post, which was published in English and Pashto.
It was likely aimed at Afghans who had left for the United States after American troops left Afghanistan.
The New York Times wrote that Root spent several months in Ukraine - the newspaper interviewed him before he attempted to assassinate Trump. Newsweek magazine also wrote about him - as a volunteer who helps Ukraine, including recruiting Afghan mercenaries.
Judging by the footage that is available online, he has visited Ukraine several times and has been to Kyiv. In an interview with Newsweek (in the latest video), given in Ukraine, Ruth states that he was going to come to fight, but was not accepted.
"I'm 56 years old and I have no military experience, so they told me at first, 'You're not the best candidate. It's not the right time.' My plan B was to come to Kyiv and push for more people to come here. We need thousands and thousands and thousands of people to fight alongside the Ukrainians," he said.
In 2016, he was a Trump supporter, but then expressed support for Biden and Kamala Harris. He has donated to the Democratic Party.
Ruth had numerous run-ins with law enforcement and was convicted of illegal possession of weapons in 2002. The media reported that Ruth was arrested during a skirmish with the police and a gun was found on him.

"I was playing golf with some of my friends, it was a Sunday morning, and it was very peaceful, very beautiful weather. And all of a sudden we heard shots in the air, and I think probably four or five, and it sounded like bullets," Trump said.
Then the Secret Service grabbed him and they all got into golf carts and drove away.
"I would love to have one last stalemate, but we decided we had to get out of here," Trump said.
According to him, the shots they heard were fired by a Secret Service agent who saw the barrel of a gun through the bushes.
"He started shooting at the barrel, started shooting into the bushes. All he saw was the barrel. Based on that, he started shooting, ran toward the target and shot a lot, that is, those were the shots that we heard. That second one (apparently, the suspect in the assassination attempt - Ed.) was never able to shoot," Trump said.
He said law enforcement was able to apprehend the shooter with the help of a witness who saw the suspect run out of the bushes and took a photo of his car. Trump praised the woman and the Secret Service agents.
Police later said the shooter was 500 yards from Trump but did not see him.

Mark Penn, a former top adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton, called Thursday for ABC to launch a formal internal investigation into its news division's planning and execution of this week's presidential debate to determine if there was some effort at "rigging the outcome of this debate."ABC News came under significant bipartisan criticism because its moderators fact-checked some of Donald Trump's statements but not a single pushback at any made by Kamala Harris.
"I actually think they should do a full internal investigation, hire an outside law firm. I don't know how much of this was planned in advance," Penn told the "John Solomon Reports" podcast.
"I don't know what they told the Harris campaign. I think the day after, suspicion here is really quite high, and I think a review of all their internal texts and emails really should be done by an independent party to find out to what extent they were planning on, in effect, you know, fact-checking just one candidate and in effect, rigging the outcome of this debate. I think the situation demands nothing less than that," he added.
Trump said Thursday that the debate was three-on-one and declined to participate in another one before the election.
